Elektra-tech works with early-stage startups to Fortune 500 companies
Community Site:
This site provided a set of community features to enable participants to engage in lively political oriented debate. Features included profile pages, registration, rights, roles, RSS, discussion boards, voting, polls, content tag analysis, movers and shakers, online video and search. The site had end user features as well as in situ and separate administrative features. It was a service oriented architecture running with several different clusters of machines, so that there was redundancy and balancing across tiers. We built operational monitoring and also performed a breadth of service outage tests to make sure the site would survive any of the tiers or services going down, albeit with degraded performance. It handled Today show scale shortly after launch without trouble.

.NET, Ajax, SQL. The community features were built using our community library software. The search system was built on top of Lucene, with extensions for some of the community features. We used a mix of load balancing techniques for machine balancing, and built database, service and fragment caches.

Online Travel Site:
This site provides data scraping, integration, manipulation and management from a variety of sources, user registration and management, and a unique search engine that provides a mix of goal and text based searches. The content management system includes a variety of modules for processing data from multiple sources, including reconciliation, merge and custom ranking. It allows the administrators to process, test and push travel data automatically.

Java, Ajax, SQL. The system is written as a service oriented architecture with several different tiers. The search system is built on top of Lucene, and is augmented with a set of Java and SQL based queries for custom ranking. The user interface includes Ajax, custom extensions to Google Maps, and PDF generation. There are synchronous and asynchronous services, and a variety of monitoring levels.

eCommerce Site:
This system provides a media rich online catalog for a B2B eCommerce company. The system includes user registration, rights and roles, administrative capabilities, catalog management, and search. Users can control the catalog individually or in bulk. Site access is controlled by roles, so different types of users are exposed to different functionality. Administrators also have tools for modifying the site design.

Java, HTML, SQL. The search is a faceted search system built on top of MySQL. Because traffic is not high, it is built with a traditional 3 tier model instead of an SOA design, although it does employ a segmented database design.

Community Media Site 1:
This system provides a media centric social network based community. The system included user registration, social network features including contact scraping, and server and desktop management of media assets. The system includes lightweight social-network weighted recommendation algorithms.

Java, Ajax, SQL. The system was built as a mix of client and server code, and included tray applications with a variety of system monitors.

Mobile site.
This system provides a media centric social network based community with a rich mobile component. The system includes user registration, social networking, social network mediated recommendations, community features, and a thick mobile app.

The community features are built on top of our community library.

.NET, C++, Ajax, HTML. The architecture consists of several tiers, each clustered, to deal with the social network services and the media services. The product technology includes native phone code, phone installers, low level protocol implementations, as well as HTML based web features, so it is a broad technology base.
